Oh, the frozen yogurt bar. It’s so American. Endless choices, self-serve, plenty of seating. And at a deceptive 39 cents an ounce, it looks affordable. Until you load it up with all that good stuff and find yourself scarfing a $5 cup of goodness.

Since the recession, these have popped up like dandelions in the spring. It’s fun, seemingly affordable and great for all ages. Kyle and I went to the Peachwave in Leawood, right by the HyVee on Stateline Road.

Our Take:

Originality: 5

Service: 5

Appearance: 8

Value: 5

Restrooms: 5

Let’s break-it-down:

Taste: Everything is always neat and fresh, but it isn’t anything mind-blowing.

Presentation: At a place like this, the way your dish looks is up to you!

Originality: Ok, these places are everywhere. What you see is what you get.

Service: They are polite enough but also give off the “you interrupted my txt” look when they have to ring you up.

Appearance: Clean and tidy, yet a little too big for what they need. It is so big that it almost feels awkward. Needs carpet, too.

Value: With heavy toppings like brownie bites and large fruit, they can pile on quickly and add up your tab in no time.

Restroom: This space was an old Starbucks and they didn’t change the color scheme to match the rest of the building. It’s the details folks, the details.
